Yes absolutely, we have glazed many of our customers existing frames, with updated prescriptions. All you have to do is purchase the required lenses, send us your spectacles with your prescription and pupil distance and we can lovingly restore them for you. We do advise that fitting lenses into your existing frame is as your own risk, and we cannot take responsibility for any frames that break whilst glazing.

All spectacles require cleaning from time to time. You can either use luke warm water with a mild hand soap and dry them with the microfibre cleaning cloth provided. Alternatively you could use a specialist spectacle cleaning spray. We would suggest to use a cleaning fluid which does not contain alcohol, so as not to damage your vintage frame, particularly if the frame has intricate detail such as diamante, or hand painted. Practices should note that the Medical Devices Directive does not cover spectacle frames already owned by a patient. Therefore new lenses can be put into a patient's existing frames (even if they do not have a CE marking).
CE marking happened in 1993 therefore as we specialise in original vintage and retro glasses and sunglasses most of our frames are unmarked.
Your pupil distance or PD is the measurement from the centre of one pupil to the other. It is used to ensure your spectacle lenses are centred correctly in the frame for you, giving optimum vision. It is recorded in millimetres.
The average measurement for women is 62mm and for men 64mm. An average measurement can be used, but it is advisable to try and be as accurate as possible. On some complex prescriptions we will not accept an average measurement.

Due to the unique nature of our original vintage stock, we cannot guarantee when a particular model may be back in stock, but on many occasions we manage to source either the identical or very similar product. You can get in touch via the contact form on our home page and send a request to be notified if one does come available. We are normally able to come up with very similar products so do not hesitate to get in touch.
UV400 is the recommended coating which blocks all light rays up to 400 nanometers. The coating offers protection against both UVA and UVB protection. If you order prescription sunglasses, they will also come with UV400 protection.
When you receive your vintage spectacles or sunglasses, they will be in the condition as described on the product page. We carefully select all of our stock not only dependent on its styling but the quality and durability of the frame. We will not list items on our website which we think have a short life span, however due to the nature of vintage products we do not offer an extended warranty.
