Reglazing Glasses & Sunglasses UK | Vintage Eyewear Specialists
Give your favourite frames a new life with professional reglazing from Retro Spectacle. Whether you own designer glasses, vintage eyewear, rimless spectacles or sentimental frames you simply cannot replace, our specialist reglazing service allows you to fit brand new prescription lenses into your existing frames.
With over 30 years of glazing experience, our in-house glazing technician specialises in working with vintage eyewear, delicate rimless designs and unusual frame materials. From luxury designer sunglasses to rare vintage optical frames, we understand that not every pair can be replaced – and that is where expert reglazing matters.
What is Reglazing?
Reglazing is the process of replacing the lenses in your existing glasses or sunglasses while keeping the original frame.
It is an ideal option if:
- Your prescription has changed
- You love your current frames
- Your glasses are vintage or no longer made
- You want prescription sunglasses fitted
- You want to upgrade your lenses
- You are choosing a more sustainable option
At Retro Spectacle, we professionally fit new prescription lenses into customer-owned frames from our UK workshop using modern glazing equipment combined with decades of specialist experience.

Specialists in Vintage & Designer Eyewear Reglazing
Unlike many high-street opticians, we are experienced in handling rare, vintage and collector eyewear. We regularly reglaze:
- Vintage designer glasses
- Luxury sunglasses
- Rimless and supra frames
- Perspex and unusual material frames
- New old stock (NOS) eyewear
- Gold-plated and delicate vintage frames
- Unusual acetate and metal constructions
Vintage eyewear often requires a more careful approach due to age, materials and manufacturing methods. Our glazing technician has extensive experience working with classic eyewear brands and understands how to minimise risk when fitting modern lenses into older frames.

Rimless & Complex Glazing Experts
Rimless glasses require precision. Incorrect lens drilling or mounting can damage both the lenses and frame components. Our workshop has decades of experience glazing rimless and semi-rimless designs, ensuring lenses are fitted accurately and securely.
We also work with unusual frame constructions and specialist materials that many standard optical labs refuse to handle.
Prescription Lenses Available
We can fit a wide range of lenses into your existing frames, including:
- Single vision lenses
- Bifocal lenses
- Varifocal lenses
- Reading glasses
- Prescription sunglasses
- Blue light filtering lenses
- Thin and ultra-thin lenses
- Anti-reflective coatings
- Photochromic transition lenses
All lenses are glazed in-house by experienced optical professionals.

Important Information
While we take every possible care when working with customer-owned frames, older or previously worn frames can naturally become more fragile over time. We will always assess suitability before proceeding and advise if we believe a frame may present a higher risk during glazing.
Please note: customer-owned frames are submitted for reglazing at the customer's own risk and responsibility. While every possible care is taken during the glazing process, due to the age, condition or construction of some frames, Retro Spectacle cannot accept liability for accidental damage or breakage and we are unable to replace customer-owned frames.
